The Revision Team

A bit of history

Re-vision is an arm of AAAJ Consulting Group, which was established in 1998 to undertake research and policy analysis over a broad range of social services and education. Re-vision grew from discussions amongst the three Directors of AAAJ - Anne Butorac, Jane Figgis and Ann Zubrick - as we talked about our own histories, how we had left traditional jobs in our fifties to set up AAAJ.

Re-vision was originally designed to support people thinking about retiring or making that retirement transition, but it expanded steadily from there to include work with local government, work on phased retirements and on un-retirements; dementia care mapping; enriching the lives of aged care residents; and facilitating discussions on housing for seniors and crime and fear of crime in the elderly.

In June 2009, Anne Butorac left Re-vision to work on other projects; she remains a silent partner in AAAJ.

And now

Jane Figgis and Ann Zubrick remain fully committed to the expanded idea and purpose of Re-vision: to understand - and to help put in place - the opportunities and supports that will make the second half of life a time older Australians, diverse as they are, can look back on with pride. The second half of life is an incredibly important part of life, one that has all too often been written off as a time for withdrawal from society, a time for people to just fade away..

It might be worth pointing out here that Jane and Ann have very different backgrounds. Jane was an inorganic chemist who became a radio broadcaster. Ann started as a developmental psychologist who became an academic 'builder of new departments' and a consummate member of governing Boards. This diversity of experience has been a great strength in the work we have undertaken in the past and, no doubt, will be in the future, too.
