Digest: reviews of books and articles

Books about retiring and retirement come in every size and shape: from inspirational 'self-help' workbooks to weighty scholarly tombs. And the number of new titles appears to grow with each passing month.

At Re-vision we started to write mini-reviews of these just so we could keep track of what was being published. What we found is that often a new book adds only one or two original ideas to the field - often very good ideas but not worth suggesting that the others read the whole book.

Since we were writing reviews for one another, we thought we might post them here.

Picture05.jpgPerhaps there is a hint of nostalgia here, too. Back in the late 1980s, Jane produced and presented the popular weekly program Science Bookshop on ABC Radio National. She loved doing it: thinking about how a book might best be shared with a wider audience, and that is a little what we are trying to do here.
