Why re-vision retirement?
Because an ageing population - living longer - is not some awful problem. It's a gift. But it's a complicated gift and contradictory messages abound. It requires the approach of both personal and social solutions for retirement.
Is retirement a time to look forward to or to dread? Is losing one's status and networks of colleagues compensated for by having more leisure and less pressure?
Is it best to retire at 55 or wait until 70? And what does chronological age tell us about our enthusiasm for work anyhow?
How can organisations engage older workers when there is widespread belief that they are too old to learn new ways?
What is work? Is it caring for relatives and friends work? Is it volunteering work? Gardening? Jobs are not the only form of work - in fact, they are often the worst form of work!
Re-vision faces these issues head on. Working with individuals and organisations we find ways to use our extended life spans wisely and well. The outcome: satisfying older years and productive and congenial workplaces. It's a new way to look at retirement.
